Cosmetic Peptide Powder vs Solution: How to Compare
Comparing peptide powders and solutions by weight can hide a large difference in active content. Start with peptide identity, analytical basis and the full composition supplied to your lab.
Confirm identity and composition
Request the exact peptide identity and supporting identity method. For a blend, obtain the amount of each peptide and the basis of any ratio. Ask whether the supplied material includes water, salts, solvents, preservatives or other carriers.
Separate purity from active content
HPLC purity, net peptide content and active concentration in a solution can describe different properties. Ask the supplier to define each figure. A chromatographic area percentage should not automatically be treated as mass concentration in the supplied product.
Convert and qualify the proposed grade
State whether the trial target is active peptide in the complete formula or the addition level of a supplied preparation. Apply an appropriate assay correction, then validate incorporation, processing, preservation and stability using the current grade-specific TDS.
Compare the supplied options
| Option | Main purchasing check |
|---|---|
| Peptide powder | Confirm net peptide content, water and counter-ions |
| Prepared peptide solution | Confirm active concentration, carrier and preservation |
Neither format is universally better; select the documented form that fits the trial and manufacturing process.
What does ppm mean for a peptide use level?
For a mass fraction, 1 ppm equals 1 mg per kg of complete finished formula, and 1% equals 10,000 ppm. Identify the active being measured and correct for supplied concentration or assay before weighing the raw material.

Shortlist the grade that fits your brief, then agree the analytical and formulation acceptance criteria with your quality team. A product guide is reference information; request the actual lot COA before approval.

Cosmetic Ingredient Solubility and Dispersion Testing — Screen dissolution, dispersion and hydration separately so a promising-looking sample does not hide sediment, incomplete hydration or an unsuitable vehicle.
